Angry Fags

I’ll be appearing as Cooper Harlow in Ghostlight Ensemble Theatre’s production of Angry Fags by Topher Payne!

More about the show: “This all-too-relevant dark political comedy asks, what do we do with our righteous anger when fear and frustration turn into rage?

An out lesbian state senator is up for re-election. Her female opponent is a moderate conservative who has aligned herself with right-wing extremists. They’re locked in a tight race in which each side caters to its base and any event can become instantaneously politicized.

When a gay man is bashed with a baseball bat and left to die, his ex-boyfriend, a campaign aide for the incumbent senator, is enraged. But his boss’s unwillingness to label it a hate crime tips him over the edge. Frustration and fear eventually turn to rage and he teams up with his best friend to embark on a vendetta of sabotage and more, reasoning that if gays aren’t respected enough to win justice, fear will achieve what good intentions and politics cannot.

Angry Fags asks what do we do with our righteous anger? Who do we turn to when we exist within a system that does not protect us, care for us, or keep us safe?”

After Manon Troffea is accused of witchcraft, Théodore must do everything he can to make it right.

She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms

I’ll be starring as Chuck in Cynthia Henderson’s production of Qui Nguyen’s hit play! In an innovative zoom production co-produced with the park school of communications, She Kills Monsters follows Agnes and Chuck as they navigate Agnes’ sister Tilly’s original dungeons and dragons campaign.

Reviews are in:

“Among this truly ensemble cast, Rafael López shone as the Dungeon Master, Chuck. Part stoner geek, part stumbling male nerd, he is also the stage manager of this world and infuses a sense of calm into the perils faced. A laid-back yet sharply timed performance.”

A Day

I assistant direct and act in The Cherry Arts’ production of Gabrielle Chapdelaine’s award-winning new play A Day. Directed by Wendy Dann and Sam Buggeln, this is the story of four characters over the course of a seemingly ordinary 24 hours. It’s just a day, what could go wrong?

“Technically impressive and dramatically effective…Ortiz, Steinhagen, Gregory, and Yntema do excellent, heartfelt work...A Day will stick with you much longer!”

“Put down the remote, pick up the mouse and watch A Day.”

—TheaterScene.net

“An energetic cast brings a delightful script to pulsing, exuberant life.”
